We have 11 clinics located throughout the River Region, 2 mobile clinics, and 4 school-based clinics in partnership with Montgomery Public Schools.
HSI is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team in Montgomery, AL. Our CMAs are an integral part of our team, providing clinical and clerical support to our Providers and patients.
Shifts: 7:30am-4:30pm or 1:00pm-10:00pm
Clinical Support & Patient Care
- Clinical Competency: Maintains verified proficiency as outlined in the Nursing Competency Summary Sheet and Unit Orientation Checklist.
- Provider Assistance: Prepares patients for exams and assists providers with specialized treatments, referrals, and medical procedures within the scope of training and HSI protocols.
- Medication Administration: Administers injections under approved circumstances, provided valid training and certification are maintained.
- Patient Education: Delivers comprehensive patient education and supports fellow staff in educational outreach.
- Infection Control: Strictly adheres to and enforces infection-control policies, with an uncompromising focus on hand hygiene and aseptic techniques.

Documentation & Communication
- Records Management: Accurately documents return patient visits, assigned logs, and tracking metrics within the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Information Integrity: Ensures all patient encounters are completed correctly and routed to the appropriate location or department.
- Confidentiality: Maintains strict patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all reporting and communication.
- Professional Communication: Participates in team meetings and utilizes appropriate departmental channels for reporting and feedback.
Operations & Maintenance
- Environment of Care: Ensures a safe, orderly, and clinical environment by daily cleaning and stocking of exam rooms, nursing stations, and equipment.
- Staff Development: Assists with the orientation and clinical shadowing of new personnel and students as requested.
- Flexibility: Remains available for evening clinics and rotations to alternative clinical sites as assigned by the Director of Nursing (DON) or Charge RN.
- General Support: Performs other related duties as assigned to support clinic workflows.
Education, Training, and Experience Required:
- Education: Completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited institution.
- Certification: Current Medical Assistant certification, including authorization to administer injections.
- Life Support: Active BLS/CPR certification.
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of previous clinical experience is highly preferred.
